My 17-month-old, Lucas, has been obsessed with Mickey Mouse! He just lights up when he sees anything Mickey Mouse. So, for Valentine’s Day this year I decided to make him a Mickey Mouse Valentine’s Day box. When he saw the ears I was cutting out, he started getting so excited! He says “Mick Mouse”. 😊
This project took me less than 20 minutes to complete. It looks like I spent quite a while on it, but everything was very simple! Even those of us who aren’t extremely “crafty” can put this box together.
How to make this Mickey Mouse Valentine’s Box
I found this box at Hobby lobby. It already had the red top, but the bottom was actually white with red hearts, so I found some shiny red wrapping paper a few aisles over and that matched pretty perfectly. I was also able to find the cute Mickey Mouse sticker and letter stickers at Hobby Lobby as well. For the ears and buttons, I used black and yellow card stock.
For someone who is not whiz at crafts, I found this was pretty easy to make. First, I wrapped the bottom box with the red wrapping paper. Then I found round objects around my house that I could trace for the buttons and ears.
The ears were the most challenging part of this project. I used one of Lucas’ baby bowls to trace the ears and then I drew the middle and sides so I could easily cut it out. I left a long enough piece at the bottom so I could fold it and tape it to the box.
I just used double sided tape to stick the ears and buttons on, but you could use glue as well.
Overall, he was very excited about his Mickey Mouse Valentine’s box, but the ears didn’t last long at daycare! He brought it home with only one ear left but it was attached with staples! 😂
Happy Valentine’s Day! 💝
